As.Roma confident of Winning Champions League

"We need to fight again to achieve this dream, it's still in our hands and being in with a chance of qualifying from this group was the dream from the start."

That was a statement which was released by Daniele de Rossi before As.Roma played their Champions League match against Manchester City and ultimately lost against the Premier League club with a final scoreboard of 2-0.

DE ROSSI APOLOGISES

Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi has come out with an apology after his team suffered an embarrassing 7-1 defeat against Bayern Munich in the Champions League. Roma came into the group stage match with real hope of getting three points since they were playing in front of their own supporters.

The 1-1 draw with Manchester City in the previous round has given them hope of reaching the knockout stages. Bayern are the undisputed favourites to win the group, but a victory against the Germans would put Roma in a great position for qualification.

De Rossi Rejects Rumors

Roma and Italy star Daniele De Rossi has rejected claims that he criticised Mario Balotelli during the World Cup 2014. The striker, who recently moved to Liverpool in a £ 16 million deal from AC Milan, reportedly put his pictures in the entire World Cup sticker album. De Rossi is reported to have said that Italy do not need Balotelli, who was a major disappointment at the World Cup 2014 after scoring just one goal in three matches. Ironically, the 24-year-old striker has been left out of the latest Italy squad announced by new manager Antonio Conte.

Roma Expectations Are High

Roma came close to winning the Italian Serie A title last season, as they were surprise package under new manager Rudi Garcia. Now, expectations are high that they will be able to win the title in the coming season due to several reasons. Juventus, who have won the title in the last three seasons, recently parted company with manager Antonio Conte. Even though they have appointed former AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri, it is expected that this managerial change will be a weakening factor for the current champions.

De Rossi Praises Gerrard

Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi has claimed that it was a pleasure to play alongside Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard when Italy met England in the opening group match at the World Cup 2014. Gerrard is regarded as one of the finest midfielders in the last few decades for the England national team. Over the years, many have praised the 34-year-old for having the quality to play for the best teams in the world. Even though he has never won the Premier League title, Gerrard has been hugely successful by lifting numerous trophies like the Champions League in his career.
