Roma have made a surprising start to the season, which has seen them win all of their matches until now. This rather brilliant start has also put them top of the table. Not many expected them to make this kind of start after selling a number of key players in the summer, while also appointing former Lille Rudi Garcia.

Even though one of the main reasons for this brilliant start has been the form of veteran Francesco Totti, one of the important members of the team – Daniele De Rossi – believes that the club should be feared by other teams in the league.

Only three teams in the past have made such a start in the Italian Serie A. This good start has made, as one of the favourites for the title along with early-season favourites Juventus and Napoli. De Rossi has been subjected to transfer rumours for the last few years, but Roma managed to keep him at the club. He has been wanted by the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester city in the last few years. The 29-year-old has said that the players at Roma are keeping their options grounded despite this good start. He has also said that manager Garcia has pointed to a similar start made by Atletico Madrid in the Spanish league.

“That happened a long time ago and we are now at a time when the league is much more competitive. You cannot start dreaming in week eight. Rudi Garcia is always giving us the example of Atletico Madrid this season in La Liga who won eight in a row but that does not necessarily mean they will win the league. We once won 11 games on the trot and ended the season in fifth place. If we continue playing like this then we will have a say,” said de Rossi.
